September Message

Greetings Gardening Friends, 

How lush everything is as we head into September with the abundance of rain over the past couple weeks. I know we all appreciated taking a break from our hoses and watering cans! It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end, with our garden’s peak bloom time drawing to a close. I’m looking forward to chrysanthemums, asters, and sedums on display in the coming weeks. The ornamental grasses are also in their glory this time of year. Don’t forget to gather your seeds from non hybrid plants, and consider bringing in your houseplants as the evenings get cooler. 

Coming up in the next month, we have a workday at the NHCO Rosalinda Sauro Sirianni Memorial garden in Bellevue on Monday, August 30th starting at 1:00 pm. I hope many of you can come and see this wonderful garden that serves fresh produce to those in our community who are food insecure. At our September 1st meeting we will learn about Dish Garden Diversity from Joni Kappler, previous owner of Ashley’s Floral Expressions. You don’t want to miss it! September 10th is our long awaited District IX Annual meeting at the Chadwick. The scheduled field trip for September 29th was cancelled. Julie is working on another field trip to Amish Country on September 15th. Details will be sent via email.
