September Meeting at Beechwood Farms - Fall Seed Collection

Another lovely day for an outdoor meeting! After our meeting and bagged lunch, Roxanne Swan discussed seed collection. The why's, where and who! Local collection by Beechwood, regional collection by MARS-B (Mid-Atlantic Region Seed Bank), national by Seeds of Success, and the global Millennium project by the Kew garden at the Royal Botanic Garden. She then discussed ideal seeding methods, the seed maturity to look for and the processes the seeds need to go through before they will germinate. THEN we headed out to the fields where we were able to see and participate in the seed collection process! Thanks Roxanne! We loved the talk and the walk!
