June Message

06/01/2023 00:00

From the President:

Greetings Garden Friends,

Relentless showers doused us on plant sale day but, we still had a steady flow of customers. As the sale was winding down, the sun finally did come out and we have not seen a drop of rain since. Imagine that? A big thank you goes out to all of you who braved those dripping elements and to those who were not there, but sold plants on your own. The next day, some of us held an after plant sale outside of Bruesters.  We still await a final figure as funds continue to roll in, considering what Mother Nature had thrown at us.

A delightful field trip to Kay Womsley’s pristine garden followed by a great lunch afterward was something we really needed. Thanks to Kay and Linda Womsley for sharing a garden full of cherished memories.

Looking forward to June, I must ask September District IX Committee Members to arrive almost an hour earlier before our regularly scheduled meeting. With the plant sale behind us, it is time to share what needs to be done and what has already been started. Our June program should familiarize us with Cool Tools, while a field trip to Michael Brother’s Nursery, then lunch at Narcisi Winery should be enticing for some new plant must haves.

“It rained wildly, desperately, as though the sky had something to prove.”
