Greetings Garden Friends,

It’s that busy time of year again for us gardening enthusiasts. The sunshine
and warmer temperatures have been beckoning us outside to weed, divide
perennials, mulc, and spray for deer! This month we look forward to
diving into our community projects at David Councill Park, Edith’s Garden
at Northmont Library, and the Passavant Planters. Our plant sale, which is
Saturday, May 22nd, will be here before we know it. We will need all hands
on deck that day, as this is our only club fundraiser. Keep potting up your
diggums, create a fun garden craft to share, and clean out your closets/
attics/basements for items for our sale.

I want to extend a BIG thank you to all the members who turned out at Mike Barnes’ business to attend
the Diggums Workshop . It was a great turnout, and was wonderful to see many of our newer members
there. The conversation was lively, and it was a great chance to catch up with everyone, while getting a lot
accomplished!

Our May meeting will be back at the covered outdoor pavilion at St Thomas Anglican Church in
Gibsonia. Make sure to take a look at the weather and dress accordingly. This is the same outdoor
location we met last summer. Bring your own lunch and drink, but we WILL have individually wrapped
desserts provided.

Looking forward to seeing many of you Friday, April 30th on Arbor Day at David Councill Park to
celebrate with and honor Julie Barnes and Jackie Nichols, our two recent Perennials Bloom Award
recipients. We have been blessed with their hard work and dedication to the club over the years.
2021 is going to be a great year of gardening, working to beautify our community, strengthening club
friendships, and gaining new knowledge from our excellent monthly programs. I can’t wait to pour over
the new yearbook which will soon be hot off the presses!

Your President, Kate Colville – “Down to Earth and Diggin’ it”
