March Message

Greetings Garden Friends,

As we prepare to once again meet as a club for our first general meeting and program after our long winter break, I am eagerly awaiting signs of spring. We have had a few teaser days of spring-like weather over the past few weeks, melting the snow and getting us outside. How glorious it is to feel the warmth of the sun! I look forward to the new growth of perennials, to dividing up plants for out Diggum workshop to prepare for our plant sale on May 21st.

Many of us were able to venture out and get together for the January and February club luncheons, where everyone enjoyed kicking back and socializing; strengthening our club friendships. Now that March is here, we will begin to get to work as a club, planning for our community gardens, and preparing for a successful spring Plant Sale.

March 29th is the annual District IX Members Day Out, which is a nice chance to get out with the other clubs in our District, and it is right in our backyard at the Chadwick in Wexford. I am hopeful that we can have a nice club showing. The deadline to register is March 15th and it is easy to do online.

Lastly, as the COVID numbers are diminishing in our area, we will resume our buffet lunches beginning at the March meeting. Assignments for March –June were emailed to all club members. We ask that everyone use hand sanitizer before going through the line, and those members who are uncomfortable with the buffet lunch are certainly welcome to continue bringing their own bag lunch. We will need to remain masked at all other times except while we are eating.

Welcome back Ingomar! I look forward to seeing you all on March 2nd. THINK SPRING!!!
