Jesica and Kirk Polan

3630 Sandy Hill Road

Gibsonia, PA. 15044

Jesica Polan and her husband, owners of this 30 year old log home, wanted to simplify lawn maintenance while enhancing and keeping harmony between the log house and front yard.

The solution is wide bands of round river stone that frame the house and roadside alternating with bands of green grass and small pockets of perennials at the corners of the house. Punctuating the stone bands are hardy drought-tolerant perennials such as astilbe, magnus coneflower, dwarf fountain grass, purple iris, stella d'oro daylillies, desum "autumn joy", plus blue chip butterfly bushes and hydrangeas.

Perimeter and streetside plants include redbud, weeping white birch trees, and an ornamental cherry tree "pink showers"
